Air Canada and Amadeus have
signed a new multi-year agreement that will provide access to the airline’s new
distribution capability (NDC)-sourced content.
Air Canada will use Altéa
NDC, Amadeus’ IT solution, to display enhanced content and offers.
The airline’s traditional
content on EDIFACT will still be available as well.

“We’re
proud to take this significant next step by offering our NDC content for the
first time through a [global distribution system]. Now agencies and travel buyers will have access to
our most complete range of content and be well-equipped for the introduction of
new products and capabilities,” said Mark Nasr, Air Canada’s senior vice president
of products, marketing and e-commerce.
“For buyers and travelers, this means their preferred
agency, whether a local independent or large travel management provider, will
be able to offer a broader range of rich Air Canada content, travel options and
services via the Amadeus Travel Platform at the most competitive prices.”
On April 3, American
Airlines implemented a controversial plan that makes some of its content
available only to agencies booking through NDC connections.
