Accommodation booking is accepted as one of the biggest areas where travelers deviate from policy, often because they find a better rate elsewhere online.
As part of its effort to address this, American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) recently brought all of its accommodation technology together onto a platform called Rest Assured.
The thinking is that Rest Assured provides travelers, and travel managers, with a better digital experience, valuable data and fewer reasons to go rogue.
Evan Konwiser, executive vice president of product and strategy for Amex GBT, joined PhocusWire at Travel Technology Europe 2020 last week to talk about the accommodation platform and the hope of driving behavioral change.
The company believes travelers need to be made aware of who is providing the rates - be it Booking.com, Expedia or another supplier, so that they don’t need to look elsewhere.
Konwiser says that if travelers are confident about the content and it’s easy to buy, travelers will change over time.
He also talks about how far technology in corporate travel has come recently, especially considering the “arms race” in terms of content fragmentation.
