Hospitality management platform Mews aims to “double down” on enhancing hotel guest experiences with the acquisition of Nomi Travel, a startup that uses artificial intelligence to provide users with suggestions on local activities based on their interests.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 2021, Nashville, Tennessee-based Nomi developed a local tour guide for travelers that uses predictive analytics and AI to respond to users’ requests for recommendations. For hotels, Nomi delivers real-time customer insights.

Nomi co-founder Tim Drisdelle, a former Apple engineer who worked on Siri, will now lead the guest experiences engineering team at Mews. He said the inspiration for Nomi came on recognizing the need for travelers seeking great local spots to match their preferences.
“We built Nomi to bring back joy and wonder for every traveler, and we’re excited to continue this journey as part of Mews to help hoteliers enhance the guest experience even further,” he said.
Mews founder Richard Valtr said the acquisition allows Mews to “double down on our mission to enable remarkable guest experiences.”
“Mews was started to make it easier to personalize guest experiences for every traveler and create a community within every hotel,” he said, adding, “We’re excited about working with hoteliers to tailor their guests’ stay to suit their needs and interests.”
The acquisition was managed by Mews Ventures, the company’s venture and investment arm launched in 2022 to fuel growth and innovation. Nomi marks Mews’ seventh acquisition, following such companies as Hotel Perfect in 2021, Cenium and Bizzon in 2022 and Montreal-based Hotello this year. In December, the company closed Series C funding of $185 million with the goal of speeding up mergers and acquisitions, among other things.
