Data and personalization specialist BD4 is winding down its operations.
A statement from Emirates Group-owned Dnata Travel, which acquired a majority stake in the business in 2018, and BD4’s founders says the decision was made “after a thorough strategic and commercial review, taking various factors into consideration, including challenging market conditions and future direction and growth prospects.”
The Germany-based company will gradually wind down to help minimize impact on employees and partners.
BD4 grew out of BD4travel, which first launched 10 years ago to help travel companies employ data and personalization techniques to boost online conversion.

The company landed funding of $4.2 million in mid-2015 for product development and customer growth and brought in Expedia founding member Simon Breakwell as its chairman.
Breakwell remained in the role until 2017.
Last year the company rebranded to BD4 as it sought to attract companies beyond travel for its personalization solutions.
Andy Owen Jones, managing director as well as a founder of the business, appeared at Phocuswright Europe last year to talk about the challenges of retailing in travel and a different approach to creating customer segments.
