Freebird, an air ticket rebooking service for passengers to use in the event of a cancellation, is no longer a standalone service.
The company's assets have been acquired by U.S.-based finance powerhouse Capital One for an undisclosed fee.
The 2015-launched brand from Massachusetts in the U.S. has been switched off following the deal earlier this month.
CEO and co-founder Ethan Bernstein is now the senior business director for travel at Capital One.
His co-founder and chief technology officer, Sam Zimmerman, left the company in March this year and has taken on a similar role at COVID Safe Paths.
A Capital One official says it acquired certain assets of Freebird, with the majority of the team joining the company.
The fate of the Freebird tool to rebook passengers on flights after disruption is unknown but Capital One says the team will be helping build new digital tools that solve consumer problems.
