Indian travel search service Ixigo is branching out into other areas of mobile commerce - buying a mobile content startup known as Reach.
Terms have not been disclosed but the deal is essentially an "acqui-hire" so that Ixigo can get its hands on the talent behind the 21-month old company.
Ixigo plans to use the team to develop new services within its travel ecosystem such as travel recommendations and guides, as well as content from the entertainment world.
Reach was created by two brothers, Abhay and Akshay Pruthi, alongside two friends. Ashish Kumar and Ayush Verma.
They raised a modest $500,000 in early-stage funding and had achieved a fair degree of success with an app that shares content, such as apps, audio files, games and other media, from a user's smartphone around a network of friends.
The Google Play store estimates that the app had been installed between 50,000 and 100,000 times.
Ixigo co-founder and CEO, Aloke Bajpal, says:
"Our main aim has always been to simplify the lives of travellers.
"With their [Reach] technology prowess and innovative thinking, together we expect to churn out a lot of smart offerings for our users. Reach brings oodles of enthusiasm along, assuring us and users of some awesome developments ahead."
