Hotels have been fighting on a number of fronts since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Alongside the logistical headache of organizing staff, mothballing properties and then trying to ressurect operations once more, many have faced competition from the alternative accommodation sector after its surge in interest in mid 2020.
These challenges have forced chains and indepedents to think about what types of businesses when they want to be as and when normality resumes at scale.
Such issues are compounded by changes in consumer behavior, too, with digtalization and health protocols altering the way guests might want to interact with a brand pre-, during and post-trip.
Chinmai Sharma, president for Americas at RateGain, joined us in the PhocusWire Studio at The Phocuswright Conference to discuss these issues and more.
