Responding to
the popularity of domestic travel by car, Skyscanner is testing a new service
that offers personalized itineraries for road trips.
The company’s
new “Road Trips” service is built on personalization capabilities from
Inspirock, a California-based company that uses artificial intelligence and
local expertise to provide personalized travel plans for more than 80,000
destinations worldwide.
Inspirock’s
system creates recommendations for routes, accommodations and activities based
on the user’s interests, desired destination, trip duration, time of year and other
factors. Using Road Trips, the bookings can then be done through Skyscanner.
“We’re
proud to deliver Inspirock’s technology to help Skyscanner strategically expand
its offerings and meet the real needs and demands of today’s savvy travelers.
Skyscanner has always helped travelers easily find the best prices and trip
options to suit their travel needs, and now together, we’ve created the
ultimate tool for personalized road trips,” says Anoop Goyal, CEO and co-founder
of Inspirock.

“Travelers
today seek more than just the logistics of where to stay and the best route to
get from A to B and B to C — they want to make the most of their precious
holiday time by maximising their enjoyment of activities and experiences along
the way, and that are tailored to them.”
Skyscanner is
launching the Road Trips platform in beta in the United States, United Kingdom,
Australia, Canada and Ireland.
“As always at
Skyscanner, we will continue to iterate and improve to ensure we’re meeting
travelers’ evolving needs. With Inspirock’s reach in over 200 countries around
the world, we’re excited to continue expanding Road Trips, offering travelers
more options to drive to destinations - both closer to home and once they
arrive in other countries,” says Paul Cumins, head of car hire at Skyscanner.
Road.Travel is another
provider of curated routes with booking capabilities. CEO Nikita Dedik participated
in Phocuswright Europe 2021's Launch competition.
