Wizz Air, the seventh-largest airline in Europe, has unveiled details and is now selling what it says is the continent’s first subscription flight program, serving customers on domestic flights within Italy or international flights from Poland.
The low-cost carrier has partnered with subscription specialist Caravelo on the service in which customers pay a fixed fee every month in exchange for either a one-way or roundtrip flight each month.
The monthly subscription cost for a domestic flight within Italy, for example, is €37 for one-way, €74 for round trip. The monthly cost for international flights from Poland is €50 for one-way and €100 for round trip. Subscribers in both plans pay extra for priority boarding and a carry-on bag or for a checked bag.
The Hungarian-based carrier announced in January plans to work with Caravelo on a new product launch. Thursday’s unveiling of the “Multipass” program is the latest development on airline subscriptions, more than a year after Alaska Airlines became the first major U.S.-based carrier to launch a flight subscription program. Caravelo also works with Alaska Airlines on its program, as well as Mexico-based Volaris and South Africa’s Flysafair.

“It’s great to work with Wizz Air and see our product enter the European market for the first time,” said Caravelo CEO Iñaki Uriz. “This announcement represents a significant milestone for our company and demonstrates our strength and commitment to innovation.”
The new subscriptions offered by Wizz Air are available for the next six months and allow for booking until five days before departure.
“Launching MultiPass just a few months after announcing the partnership with the airline is proof of the efficiency of our team, and the rapid growth of our company,” said Jose Luis Vilar, Caravelo co-founder and chief product and technology officer. “We are proud to work with an innovative airline like Wizz Air and look forward to transforming air travel in Europe.”
