Alaska Airlines is launching a new accommodations-focused platform powered by Expedia Group. The pairing marks the latest in a string of companies looking to become more full-service as travel providers - a trend not just limited to banks and other fintech firms.
Stays by Alaska Vacations, introduced Monday, will allow travelers to explore deals on more than 900,000 hotel and vacation rental properties. And through the platform, users can earn and redeem miles via Alaska’s loyalty program.
“Stays by Alaska Vacations combines convenience and affordability, by giving our guests access to Expedia Group’s vast inventory and unlocking special savings while earning status on an award-winning airline,” said Courtney Lansing, managing director of business development and products at Alaska Airlines.

Through the partnership, Lansing said the company hopes to offer choice to its guests for each leg of their trip from flights to accommodations.
Stephen Chang, vice president of strategic partnerships at Expedia Group, said the linkup underscores the companies' commitment to end-to-end traveler experiences.
“Powered by our White Label Template solution, Stays by Alaska Vacations unlocks our robust lodging supply and offers incredible value for Alaska Mileage Plan members to earn and redeem miles across various trip elements,” said Cheng.
Expedia Group has openly discussed its growth strategy for its B2B business, which sold 100 million nights in 2023. The new product with Alaska builds on previously announced joint efforts between the two companies.
In March, the airline launched Packages by Alaska Vacations, also backed by Expedia Group, with opportunities for travelers to snag “package-only” price cuts for flights, hotels, car rentals and more.
In the last several years, other airlines have also expanding their travel offerings beyond their own products.
In 2021, JetBlue launched Paisly, a travel website for customers to book trip elements outside of flying - including hotel reservations and car rentals, and earlier this month it added Vrbo content.
And other air travel-oriented companies are looking to become fuller service, too.
