With two former Expedia execs (Erik Blachford and Stuart MacDonald) on the advisory team, Sherpa has created a platform for travelers to identify and purchase visas and other relevant documentation ahead of a trip.

It also works as a plug-in for airlines to place on their websites, helping passengers to purchase products during the booking flow of a flight.

Some 300 million types of products are forecast to be issued by governments in 2020, so the market need is huge.

Goals for 2019

Over the next year, Sherpa will partner with leaders in the aviation and tours and activities spaces on pilot projects to include eVisas and eTAs as ancillary offerings. 

The company will also close a $1 million side round in early 2019. The funds will enable the Sherpa team to facilitate eVisa and eTA applications at a global scale.
