Navan was one of the first travel industry companies to use OpenAI's ChatGPT APIs when it added the technology to its virtual assistant Ava back in early February.
Now the company, formerly TripActions, has broadened the capabilities of the virtual assistant so it can function as a data analyst for travel administrators and finance managers.
According to a release, Ava can carry out a number of processes, including analyze real-time spend data, analyze spend versus travel policy and predict future spend habits.

The virtual assistant can also offer feedback on travel and expense questions, identify savings opportunities and provide a summary of results in multiple languages.
In a blog post in March on AI developments, Ilan Twig, co-founder and chief technology officer of Navan, hinted at the development of Ava for travel and expenses, saying the solution would enable chief finance officers and travel administrators to “have ChatGPT-style conversations.”
He also said at the time that the company was using generative AI to develop a conversational business intelligence system “that goes even deeper, giving companies the tools to unlock data and insights.”
Navan says Ava is available to select clients in North America and will be rolling out to more over the coming months.
